I look forward to finding out if perhaps Cait had issues regarding heights and ladders BEFORE the events of the comic or if her terrible encounters herein are the only cause of her troubles with them.
IF i remember correctly,, Herein..
i’d have to look but one if flash backs ,, show her on a high rise ledge,, eating..
in the little time here.. ladder collapse , elevator fall , an floor/ceiling collapse..
oh an a nasty fall wen she first got her bag…
ok looked ,, back in page 37 “slideshow.” panel 4 , her an friend? / coworker? on ledge eating ,, an panels later sitting there thinking..
and 5 (not 4) near death falls.. in less than two days here.. an three of em include “elevators / ladders..
I think it is reasonable that she is rather anxious about the state of the structure considering all that has happened since she woke up. The place has experienced significant decay to the point that once secure features are falling apart including failsafes that are supposed to prevent things, namely elevators, from falling in the event of a cable failure. Nobody wants to fall to their doom or be torn in twain, having those things almost happen to her in quick succession would make anybody on edge about the idea that it could likely to happen again.
On a separate note, I had a stray thought that maybe an animal stereotype might also be at play but I couldn’t find many examples of anxious mice characters so I concluded it unlikely to be the case. I am not dismissing the possibility that her human nature might still be influenced by her mouse side in other ways however… besides the fact that she’s acting understandably human. Food for thought I suppose.
Hope everyone is having decent holidays this year despite everything.
I think Roxy has been recording all of their interactions with Cait and building a database of her vocalisations and bodylanguage alongside anything Cait has written and spoken. They probably can make some educated guess based on what they’ve built up so far and some guesswork with the gestures.
